Putting audible beeps on line.
I have an Option 11C and a digital recorder.
I need to put an audible signal on the line so that people know that they are being recorded.
Digital said that their recorder couldn’t put a beep on a digital line.
My dispatch that I record is only about 10percent of the whole office.
Is there a way to put a beep on the dispatch lines only from the PBX?

RE:

The FCC has (2) rules when you want to record a conversation legally.

1. It must have a series of beeps or tones to indicate the conversation is being recorded (actually only one beep or tone is required during the call).
or
2. It must be announced 'prior' to the conversation or at the moment recording begins that this call is or may be recorded.

I can provide you with the specific code it you'd like.

I personally have never found a way to incorporate a beep or tone into a conversation - so I always preface the completion of the call with a RAN "Please be advised this conversation may be recorded.."" - then connnect the call. I do this for my call centers and my Security office..

Plus I've instructed our personell who have Malicious Call Trace to inform the caller at the time they press the button to indicate 'Your call is being recorded" and to act with the upmost professionalism...

WHY? Keep in mind (I've seen this a couple of times on the Internet - can't validate - but it seems like a valid argument). - "When a recording is created between the caller and the called party - both parties have right(s) to it -- since both parties created it. Both parties have a right to present the call as they see fit and to their individual advantage in proceedings."

We haven't heard a lot of the above, but If you've ever called into a call center and all they did was give you the 'run' around -- think about it...

chas2002...if you have a copy of that code, I would like to have it! They are recording here and not telling anyone. Can't be right for them to be doing that.....right?

YOU NEED TO CHECK WITH YOUR STATE, BECAUSE THIS IS A STATE BY STATE ISSUE. SOME DO SOME DON'T. AND IF THIS IS RECORDING THE DIGITAL PHONES, IF I REMEMBER CORRECTLY THERE IS NO TRANSMIT JUST RECEIVE FROM THESE DEVICES

OK. I will check State webs for info. We use a product called "Audiolog" that is a "passive" listener (receive only) and dumps the recorded info to a server. They even have it hooked to the consoles.

Also, bear in mind even if your state requires only 1 party notification that a caller may not be calling from your state. Interstate calls would fall under federal rules which require two party notification of recording.
