I've often been told that using every single ISM TN on a switch will cause some bad things to happen... I've heard this from numerous unconnected sources but have yet to see it officially documented nor have I ever used every single ISM TN on a switch to see what will happen.

Now a customer wants to use all the TNs on their switch and demands written proof from the manufacture that this is true or they won't buy more TNs. Basically they think we're trying to make some extra money off of them.

Has this ever been documented from Nortel? I've been searching around but not having a lot of luck.

I've heard it from a bunch of sources... even read a post on here or on the other board about leaving at least one TN avaliable or bad things would happen... might just be another one of those corruption rumors that aren't documented.

I'd lean more toward the rumour and less toward the undocumented.

GW or Fletch (our Resident Nortel Employees) what's your take on this?

Hey guys, this is news to me also. I have never heard of such. I wouldn't be afraid to use all the TN's in any of my switches if needed. How many TN's do you have left, and how many are you needing to use? Also, sounds like a hostile customer to me.

They have 48 left but are taking over another floor and want to add 50 phones...

It's basically a sanitarium, everyone who works there from the top down is pretty much completely paranoid and delusional, more so than the folks they have locked up / drugged up in there. They put the PBX in this 'special' room where the thermostat is only adjustable from 90 to 130 degrees so the switch room is always floating at about 100 degrees. They refuse to put air conditioning in because the temperature is below the point at which the PBX cuts out and we have to replace all the parts that burn up (power supplies and mermail units) for FREEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!... not really... but they don't pay for it.

90% of the people I've met in the voice business are borderline walking crazies by societies standard for sanity... myself included in that count.

Most of the people in our data group look at us with envy cause we're 'FUN'
