Hey all - I have a request to capture all inbound messages as wave files to a VM Box then have them emailed to someone. I'm wondering where/how to capture the digital messages if possible. It certainly fits under the Unified Messaging umbrella and functionality. Anyone have thoughts or experience concerning this?

Thanx guys -

Not with Call Pilot, Call pilot is too proprietary. Maisoft is a voicemail system that will do exactly what you want it to. We use it for 3 class 5 Nortel DMS-10 switches. You can have it send a copy of the vm in wav. format to an email address. It is pretty slick. A ton cheaper than Nortel. 100,000 voicemail boxes and 20 ports for 1000 a port. 20000 for a full blown killer vm system. Check them out

www.maisoft.com

Tell them Kevin from Utah sent you if you go with them. Thanks

Kevin

I know that you can listen to your e-mail msg through Callpilot. You can also send a msg to an internet user (if you have that option installed) they can then play the msg back on their computer via a media player. But not sure if you can cature a voice msg to a wave. I will need to investigate a little further.

All you have to do with CallPilot is convert it from a proprietary .vbk file to a .wav file. CallPilot has the ability built in. Another advantage CallPilot has over third party unified messaging products is it stores all messages on the CallPilot, not the Exchange server.

What I've done in the past is setup

The phone with No Hold Conf and Speed Dial to a "Message" only mailbox. When to person want's to record the conversation -
1. Press No Hold Confernce + Speed Dial Key,
2. Conference into the Message Only mailbox.

I'm not sure about the Call Pilot Wave Files - I have Centigram VM..

I know on pilot 2.0 when u set up unified messaging. I think at the mailbox level u define wav or vbk as the sound file type. The pilot will just put them in your inbox. you will have to build rules in your outlook or whatever u are using to forward them automatically somewhere else.

When you run the CallPilot Desktop Client to listen to your messages you can click File-Save As then select wav as the file type.
Or if you run the web-based "My CallPilot" you can use the wav format, though I haven't actually seen it.
It is also possible to schedule a daily backup of messages for specific mailboxes to a disk on another PC.

Scott,

if you "Forward " the message outsuide the nortel system like to a AOL account it will automaticly change to a .wav file. Try it ..........it works.

My problem is I don't have unified messaging. Corp won't spend the $$$. Sounds like I'm stuck w/o it.
