MWI keeps coming on for no reason - PBX Info :: Your Free PBX, PABX and Telephone Information Resource

One of the secretary’s MWI on her phone keeps flashing for no reason even though she doesn’t have any voice mail. I already deleted and remade her voice mail box and that didn’t solve the problem.
Any ideas on what to do to fix this? I’d hate to have to rebuild the phone for something as small as this but will if it’s the only solution.

What happens when you MWK "cancel" her does it eventually come back?

Well she hits the Voice Mail button, and it says "no voice mail" and then it will come back randomly. Is that what you are refering to?

Not really...

I was referring to a cancel at your Maintenance Set.

Add MCK (Message Cancel Key)
and MCI ( Message Indication Key)
to your maintenance set - Then cancel her light.

If it comes back on in error

Then you can (do you have Mermail?) watch which MB is sending the On Request to the switch...

YOU MUST LIKELY HAVE A MAILBOX THAT HAS ONE OF HER EXTENSION IN IT AND THAT BOX IS TURNING IT ONN

do a search (find) in MM on all mailboxes with that message waiting dn.
If you have more then one....there you go....

A lot of times bosses have their MWK go to the secretary....

i added MCK and MCI to the maint phone and cancled the MWI. I do have mermail, MM11. I did a MCK on her extension and the light went off. how would i use MM to watch which MB is sending the onrequest?
