Ok...so now it's MY turn to dig for E911 information....looks like Red Sky is something we're implementing.
Anyone use it? Use something like it? Have E911 set up to full compliance?
Let me know.
Cheers

It's something that we're looking at... actually it's the job of the customers engineer and it's been on his plate for the better part of a year. Meanwhile guess which way I voted?

Better him than me.

PG & Slag -

I work at a Resort (1,800 room hotel) with our own Emergency/Security Personnel.

I read the Download posted by Fletch or Jack about E-911 and Clid requirements on pbxinfo.com and I don't think they apply to us. Should I be looking at something else?

We send everything out as our main number and the Emergency Offices know that it's the resort,

+ I route internal 911 (from the guest) to the 24/7 Security office and they make the appropriate request from emergency services...

What is RedSky? - Does it involve bringing in Patrick Swayze and Charlie Sheen as frontline Gureilla agents for "On Star" - This can't be good for Telecommmunications as we know it.. :P

LOL....

Try this http://www.redskytech.com/src/03_sec/e911/index.htm

I think that's it.

I work for the gov and we still have a ton of analog facilities at most of our locations and in the campus enviroments the 911 dispatch only gets the info on the facility the switch is in.

I've heard that routing 911 anywhere other than the 911 operator is illegal in this state, not sure where I heard that but it almost makes more sense to route 911 to the sheriffs we have on most of our sites.

As it goes we've been implementing OSN at the sheriff desks so that they know a 911 call was made and who made it. The vast majority of our 911 problems are the idiots forgeting how many digits they dialed while fumbling around for a number, half of them just hang up and the police have to dispatch on a hang up.

It's another PITA on the remote carrier sites most of which are high profile so they won't let me mess with the programming to make the 911 calls go out local.

Some other engineer is working on the E911 so it's his headache not mine.

I'm with T on this, there is just so much to discuss on this issue we would LITERALY need a few cases of beer to discuss it

The gist of it IMHO (in my humble opinion) is why would you not want to give the PSAP every available piece of information to assist the first responders in the event of an emergency?

Looked at Redsky ALONG time ago and while its an awesome product it's also REALLY expensive!!!!

In Il. we are required to send information down to quadrant of a specfic floor with a dialable DID number that the PSAP can call back if necessary on all spaces that have 20,000 sq. ft. or more.

Like T stated drop me a PM with your number and I'd be happy to discuss this at length.

Jack

ps -- You will need to bring the beer
