Nortel has released bulletin MD-2004-0004-Global announcing that orders for M2006/M2008/M2008HF/M2216/M2616 will only be accepted up till October 2004 with last date to ship of December 31, 2004. Repair services will be maintained till no later than end of 2007. No new software features will be developed or supported on the sets beyond end 2004. Recommended digital set replacement is M3900-series sets.
