OK, I'm going to try and explain myself here.

One of our site's (opt 81) uses a Nortel Passport to call other offices around the globe. At present, they use SPN's with a DMI on the RLI to call places.
E.G. they dial the AC2 code, followed by the global office code. This global office code is an SPN pointing to an RLI which points to a route. The RLI also has a DMI to strip off the global office code that the user dials and replace it with the code that the passport node understands.

i.e. The user dial's xxx, but the Passport system needs to see yyy to route the call to the right destination. The DMI takes care of this.

The problem is that we have branches on opt 11c that are connected to the main site via a frame relay network. In their config, they have DSC's which point to the main site, however, that is as far as they are going. The callers are receiving NU whenever they try to call internationally.

My question is, can SPN's be used instead of steering codes in a main 'hub', or routing switch. I don't think it will work but I'd like to confirm this. Let me know if this does not make sense.

Thanks

P,

Not sure that I follow where you are going, but it sounds like you want to do TEHO (Tail End Hop Off) so that a caller at the 11 can dial across Frame circuit to 81 and then "hop off" to pstn as a local call.

Is this correct?

If yes then this is certainly possible.

Right, what I am asking is, can SPN's be used to route calls that have been routed to it via cdp.

The PABX has been set up by a foreign support company with SPN's for the users to dial an AC2 code followed by an SPN to call international sites via our internal global netowrk. They have then connected an opt 11c via a WAN link ( the WAN link is not the issue, the VoFR works fine).

The support company are under the impression that the SPN's they have set up in the 81c will route calls that have come in from the Opt 11. I am saying that they need to remove the SPN's and use DSC's.

My main question is : Can you use an SPN to route calls that have not originated in the switch that the SPN is built in. i.e. Can an SPN take the place of a steering code?

Thanks

Paul
