I knew it would catch me out eventually! I am fairly experienced in most area's of the Meridian, however, I have never really gone particularly deep into PRI issues. i.e. I can set them up and run diags, but have never REALLY known what I am doing. So, I am now going to make it my resolution to start doing this.

Right, I have a couple of questions for you:-

I am studying a network diagram of my companies voice network in one of our european offices. We have an 81C with one link going out to a hypercom mux, and another link going to a Nortel Passport. They are both marked as ISDN PRI. The link to the h/com mux says that it has 24 channels, and the link to the passport says that it has 6 channels.

Is it possible to order a 30 channel ISDN circuit, split it into one six channel and one 24 channel?

If not, why would you order a six channel ISDN circuit. Is there a big cost difference? These questions probably sound really stupid, but I have never really been involved in the ordering of circuits and network design. But I 'm determined to sort this one out for myself.

Thanks

ISDN PRI Question

Euro PRI's are 30 channels but you would think that they dcould do it with one mux... are they terminated into one PRI card in the PBX?

A T1 has 24 channels
an E1 as 30 channels..

It's a common setup to breakup your T1/E1 into different route members..serviced by a single DCH...
