What I'm trying to achieve is to be able to direct calls (using CFW key) to an extension to be forwarded into Voicemail but to end up in a different mailbox from that associated with the original dialled extension. Basically if I call forward each of the extensions in a department to a number then when they hit the mail system they should all go to a common group voice mailbox.

I've tried a few things like forwarding to a PLDN of a hunt group and forwarding to an ACD DN with NCFW set to go to Voicemail.

I hope this makes sense. Any ideas how I can achieve this?

Thanks,
KS

How about building a phantom TN and mailbox. Put all of the sets associated with the group as extension DN's in the mail box. Depending on how many additional sets you are talking about this would work.

Depending on your mail system, what will happen is the v/m will only see the original dialed number.

What type of v/m do you have?

Sorry, I was assuming that you had Meridian Mail. For folks that have multiple office locations we build the extensions on the mail box and it works great. I think that there is a limit of 6 extensions on any one mail box. That number is off of the top of my head. I would have to log in and look.

This is on an Option 61C running release 22 (22.46 I think) the vmail is a Meridian Mail 10.

I'm aware of the ability to add additional DNs to a mailbox but that doesn't answer my need.

What I need to be able to do is that a team of people want to retain their own vmailboxes as usual but they want at times to be able to call forward their extensions to a common answering point and that in event of that number being unstaffed then for the calls to go to the common vmailbox rather than their own individual boxes.
What I had in mind was to set up an access on a non DID DN which they could forward their phones to and for this number to be the DN which had the group mailbox associated with it.

Back to Rachelle's original response, could somebody explain phantom TNs? Having a search on phantom on here gives me 2 hits, neither of which explain what they are, or how to set them up.

Thanks,
KS

Phantom DNs
Introduction

What is a phantom DN?
Instead of using telephone sets or ACD queues to route calls, that exist only in software and have no associated hardware.
The DN associated with one of these phantom phones is called a phantom DN.

To create a phantom DN, you first create a phantom loop and then define a TN within that loop. The system knows that any TN defined within that loop is a phantom TN.

Each phantom TN is assigned a DN (the phantom DN).

Phantom DNs forward to a CDN queue
Incoming calls cannot queue up in the phantom TN as they arrive. As soon as a
call arrives at a phantom DN, the system forwards it to a CDN queue to be
queued and finally routed to a multimedia channel for further call handling.
However, the system remembers the phantom DN to keep track of the requested service.

Services that should use phantom DNs
It is strongly recommended that you use phantom DNs for the following
services:
all services created with Application Builder that are directly dialable by
callers
- Speech Activated Messaging
- Paced Speech Messaging
- Voice Item Maintenance
- Fax Item Maintenance
- Express Voice Messaging
- Express Fax Messaging

Networking services
The following Networking services can either have a unique phantom DN
configured on the switch, or they can share the phantom DN (and SDN) of
another service:
- Enterprise Networking
- AMIS Networking
- Integrated AMIS Networking
Share DNs when your supply of available DNs on the switch is low. Create a unique DN when you need to closely monitor each service (for example, so thateach service generates its own traffic data in Reporter).

Specify whether a networking service shares an SDN with another service when you configure the shared SDN (by enabling the Act on AMIS/Enterprise Initiator tone option).
