What is the proper procedure for restarting Meridian 12 mail?

I was reading the manual (which I was lucky enough to find), and it said to first disable the AML Link (I dont have my manual with me right now); do a courtsey system down; then shut the system off (Meridian Mail only), then turn MM back on, enable the AML link, and wait 20 minutes for the MM login screen to appear.

To describe the problem, I went to go check to see if Meridian Mail was performing its weekly backup, and It said that the scheduled backup had failed (It failed on 8/9/02). I attempted to do an immediate backup, but SEER spooled out a message that said to many backups were running. Well, I tried to push the abort button (or function), but it was not on the screen, which tells me that meridian mail is messed up a little bit. I figure a re-boot would help. If you have any other suggestions beside a reboot, that would be nice.

Also, how do I figure out what the AML link is and disable it??

Help with the AML is found in the NTP's LD 48

AML: 14 MSDL: 15 PORT: 03 DES: AML14
LYR2: EST AUTO: ON LYR7: ACTIVE EMPTY APPL ACTIVE
AML: 15 MSDL: 15 PORT: 00
LYR2: EST AUTO: ON LYR7: ACTIVE EMPTY
APPL: VMBA ACTIVE

the last enrty is the MM, you can enl aml X and dis AML X.

U can then go to the MM and to the SYSTEM STATUS AND MAINT and down the system from the menu.
