Don't Beleive a word of it

I posted this message via other means and received one response. I'm curious to know who here has something to add:

I know these tools are right at my finger tips. I just don't know how to
use them.

I support an Option 11 for a manufacturing firm which was recently purchased
by another company. The new company is requesting a higher level of
security than was thought necessary before.

1. I want to be able to block international calls on all phones.

2. I want to be able to allow internal calls and block all external calls
(except 9-911 or 911) on all phones located in production areas.

3. If not too complicated, I want to allow external calls in production
office areas with an access code.

How would one achieve this?

Secure Phones in Semi-public Areas

all this can be acheived though NARS/BARS programing and CLS / NCOS programing of the phone. it will be too long to explain in just one post. but ger
nerally you want either CTD or SRE in the CLS of the phones and the you want NCOS of the phone to be lower than the FRL of your RLI that allows local and internaional calls
for the phones that you want to be able to dial out the NCOS of the phone must be equal to or greater than the FRL of the RLI.

How familiar are you with BARS/NARS?

Quick version is

1) remove 011, I presume you are in USA, from your SPN's

2) Get familiar w/ your NCOS settuings on your trunks and routes vs your phones.

3) Look into auth codes.

This could be ALOT of work depending on the size of your system.

Good Luck!

Jack

ISDN BRI's...

If you have any complaints about specific outging calls being blocked, say to an off-site maintainer, you could always add those numbers to your speed-dial list. These seems to allow any phone to call that number.
