We have had a real struggle getting Symposium client installed on workstations. It was a combination of partial uninstalls, re-installs, reboots and removal of some RAM that was too much for Nortel's software to handle. Now we have it installed and working on all the systems that need it but are having printing problems. Some can't print reports and one in particular had the following
"Tried to print the list of CDN's from Symposium and received an error message advising that it was closing and to send the report to Microsoft. The instruction at "0x763bb11e" referenced memory at "0x00000004". The memory could not be "read". Click OK to terminate the program. Clicked ok and the CDN list closed, the SMI remained open. Tried printed from other options (Users) and the same error message. I was able to print from the Reports section (Crystal reports)"
The systems are all XP SP1 and it is version 4 revision 6.2. I've searched the posts and can't find any related topics already out there. If anyone has had this problem and has a fix can you please respond. The vendors only suggestion for all the problems we have had is to uninstall and re-install.

Never had this particular error, but several with installation, launching report or Real-time display. Sometime we fixed the problem in recreating the environment path, modified by a subsequent installation. But most of the time we had to resintall the machine from scratch. To uninstall/reinstall Symposium never fixex anything...

So from what I have been hearing almost everyone has problems printing and installing Symposium and if there are any problems you need to re-image your machine from scratch. I guess Nortel never thought this would be a problem.

My understanding of the error is - it is caused by a file extension that contains too many characters to the right of the period. The buffer overfills and causes the error message to occur.

I have already re-imaged my clients - but let me know if any of these help...

Good Luck
