Location: Vancouver, BC, Canada Rep Power: 6 ![]() | Expanets Does anybody know the procedure or steps for removing an IPE cabinet from a live Option 81. The cabinet is the fourth in a column. I disabled the loop, powered down the cabinet and then proceded to remove the system monitor and power cable to the cabinet as well as the network cable. After about 5 minutes the whole column powered down. I then reattached the system monitor and such and turned on the breakers. This caused the whole system to resest. Is an order of cable removal that I should follow? What is the grey ribbon cable used for? Should I be turning off Cabinets 2&3 with the breaker? I can't find anything in the manuals so any info would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

This sounds awfuly risky with out bringing down the system.... __________________ You can't wield supreme executive power just because some watery tart threw a sword at you - Look, if I went 'round saying I was an Emperor, just because some moistened bint had lobbed a scimitar at me, they'd put me away!

As you discovered, you need to do this before you disconnected the thermal sensor in the column top hat. After that, you can turn off the cct breakers at the base of the column, then disconnect the power harness connector etc. Hope you've got small hands

Rep Power: 6 ![]() | Bruce is correct you must dis the tty of the xsm in 37 then you must pull the system monitor out of the switch. That is the key point. Remember the tty is communication only. the xsm card is what trips the breakers and it will do it 60 seconds after it senses the open on the thermal switch which will occur when you unplug the ribion cable. Then just turn power off to the ipe shelf unplug the cabels put the top cap back on. shove the xsm back in (about 1 to 15 chance this will trip all breakers on that colum only if it does just turn them back on) and reenable the tty for the xsm in 37. and your done. I sure the book probably says to shut down the whole colum but I like it on the edge and this procedure has worked fine for me except for the breakers tripping occasionaly when the xsm is replaced.

If something goes wrong, again praying nothing will, you will be glued to your switch for a while. My hands sweat just thinking about you are thinking of doing. Good Luck. May the force be with you...
