2616 as Attendant Phone

Hello All,

I would like to use a 2616 as my attendant phone. This is a new install so no 2250 to remove. Could someone point me in the right direction on how i go about doing this? Thanks for your help.

Seems like you need to:

Add some SCR keys to the 2616.... put these into a linear hunt group so that you can get incoming calls to your set.

Set the last member of the hunt to your mail system..... saves overloading the person answering the calls.

Possibly set IDC conversion so that a "main number" can arrive at the 2616 keys

Possibly set the PDN of COT circuits

Set NIT data to capture anything that may have been missed above.

Prg a NIT key on the 2616 so that in the event that an alternate ans point is wanted, then IDC conversion on the Rt can point "somewhere else". The alternate here is to use the NIT as the alternate point, but some proof of concept would be needed for all your day calls.

Ensure that your 2616 has appropriate configs (NCOS, diversions, FTT(x) etc so that it can operate as a defacto ATT.

Consider a SAR group if you need to lock the phone of a night.

Doubtless there are other considerations, and ideas on what to do, but this should get you started.

Get a copy of the "Central Answering Position" configuration document from www.norte.com/support. It describes configuring and using an M2616 (or M3904 or IP Phone 2004/1140E) with similar functionality of the M2250. It is primarily based upon using ACD for the required queuing.

OK, so I saw an old reply from PP on another post about building a ACD 0 and point it at the main number. So I did this, changed the ATDN to 321 (random number) because I can't figure out how to remove 0 (maybe you can't?). Set the LHK to 6 on the 2616, set NIT to the main number. Anything else I should do to this? Thanks

Removing 0 is more trouble than its worth, use the NIT command to change the target DN. If you are using any copper trunks use the ATDN prompt to reroute those calls.
