More than one CUST???

Hello all, i'm just wondering if anyone could throw some light on running a system with more than one CUST (instead of only the default CUST 0). If yes, what are the practical difficulties you've experienced & any advice for a typical corporate setup? Any ideas would be great. Thanks.

Multi-customer is typically used when the same system is used to provide service to multiple totally independent companies. For example, in an office building. Each "customer" in the CS 1000 is configured totally independently with their own configuration and there is no sharing of resources. Calling from one customer to the other requires a trunk-to-trunk call.

This is different from multi-tenant where a single customer can be divided into "tenants" where some of the resources are shared.

Thanks gwebster. I fairly understand the concept i.e. logically we can have different customers with their own numbering plan (no need to worry about clashing with others!) but they all share some common hardware resources in the system like DTR,TDS, etc.

Jack:

We also have a department which does some common work for all these independent customers. I was just trying to see if we can INTERNALLY call each other probably with some kind of digit manipulation. But, looking at NTP again, since NARS codes are also specific to a customer, I really doubt if this is possible.

Is there a workaround without going for trunk calls?

Many thanks!

With multi-customer, you have to use trunks to call another customer. With multi-tenant, you can share resources and also set up intra-tenant calling restrictions/allowances.
