user back file increases a backing up

I am sorta puzzeled with this issue. I am doing the user back up and it started off saying 21.4G and total size 1318 items. As the back up progresses i have gone up to 23.5G. I don't really understand how this is happening. has anyone else experienced this? My full back up was only 22.1G so i am not sure how this is bigger? Any hel;p would be great.
