CLID

I've been spending a lot of time trying to set it up so our fax machines do not need to dial long distance codes to make long distance calls.

It hasn't been working out, they still need to dial a code.

Is there any way I can insert a long distance code (it is assigned by our long distance carrier) at the end of a dialed number?

I'd like to do a separate code based on the extension the calls are being placed from, impossible?

Now that I read this it just sounds ridiculous.

Are you talking of a 1010 number kind of setup or do you have to dial a code at the end of the number - give an example.

They are authorization codes we have set up with our long distance carrier.

if I dial 81212555121 I then hear a tone and have to insert a 4 digit PAC
8 gets out of the switch

so it would be
812125551212 BEEEEEEEEP 1234 call connects

Thanks

You may want to PM Fletch - I think I saw his response to a similar queston about the # key and adding digits to the carrier..

On your fax, is there a manual or book that talks about dialing out? Can you enter in all the digits 81212555121 then a 4 digit PAC code then press GO? Or do you have to go off hook first then dial the digits?

They can dial fine from the faxes but I wanted to do it in the switch.

The manager doesn't want people seeing the access codes on the fax report printouts so we wanted to set them up to not have to dial codes.

You don't have to go off-hook on the faxes to enter the codes or dial out.

Thanks for the help.

On the Meridian you need to add a # to the dial string to kill the End of Dial Timer, then you can add your pauses and extra digits.
