How to Understand CLID

I have read 8 of 20 pages of posts that came back from a search for the term, CLID. My eyes hurt and I never found what I was looking for. What I did find were more questions. I was looking for a non-NTP description of each of the CLID entry fields. What do they really mean? What is the impact of each entry? I am looking for best practices/recommendations for the environment listed below.

Below I have some sanitized data (DCH, RDB, CLID entries):
Can some one please explain the limitations of having TIE ISDNs with the DCH listed?
Where can I find this clearly written out in a procedural format?

Any and all help is requested and greatly appreciated.

I have been able to piece together the following:

HNTN is the area code (NPA)
ESA_HLCL is the office code (NXX)
ESA_INHN is YES for 10 digit dialing and NO for 7 digit dialing
ESA_APDN is YES if you want the set's DN to add to the ESA_HLCL as the last 4 digits
HLOC is a home location code
LSC is a local steering code
DIDN is YES to use the DN as a DID number

Should the RCAP of the route print out something? If so, would it need to have COLP and/or MCID, as a best practice?

Please provide examples:

DID number to pass it's self
Non-DID number to pass a generic DID number
DID number to pass a toll-free number
Non-DID number to pass a toll-free number

How do these appear to 911?

Thanks!

I want to be very careful with this stuff. Now, for toll-free numbers to be passed, we would not enter anything in the HNTN. Right?

Rachelle are you trying to send an "800" number for calls from one of your stations? You could put 800, 866, etc in the hntn and he other 7 digits in the hlcl with did no. I ususally set these up and then assign them to a test line to ensure I'm getting the results I want before deploying.

Thanks! Testing is turning out to be more of a bother than expected. We keep showing up as Private Number. I think that it is my cell network though. Any way, thanks for all of the help.
