Rep Power: 39 ![]() | MWA in OTM We've had a question regarding outside calls showing up on caller ID as all nines... I've tested from a residential blocking caller ID to my desk line and it shows me the trunk number (as expected)...with out it blocked it shows the number. I'm assuming the 99999 display is some sort of programing for blocking ID NOT supplied by SBC (the local carrier)... Anyone else seen this? Thanks PG

Location: Missouri Rep Power: 6 ![]() | Paging through Phone Sets It could be the telemarketer has programmed their system to send all 9s out their PRI...and their (C)LEC switch allows this to occur. (Accidentlly) I found that my LEC doesn't do a sanity-check on numbers being sent by my 11c to see if they are legal blocks that I have on a particular PRI span.

Location: NORTEL - NJ Rep Power: 6 ![]() | That is EXACTLY what it is. I think if you want to push it, there is a clause in the ITU (completly iterpretive mind you) that says you are not allowed to send an invalid CLID, or one that is not yours. I think the argument is strong enough to scare the crap out of the telemarketer. You could even press the issue with your CLEC. In any case, I'd hate to work there and have my 911 call show up as 99999 at the PSAP.......

Location: Missouri Rep Power: 6 ![]() | I am sure that many state PSCs (or whatever state government organization handles utility matters) take a very dim view these days of businesses sending deceptive CLID, or for that matter, for a phone company (SBC in your case) allowing it to happen. Probably a few well-placed phone calls will stop this.

Location: MIAMI, FLA Rep Power: 7 ![]() | looking for docum. of siemens hicom 100E I CAN SAY FOR SURE I'VE HAD MANY CALLS ON MY CALLER ID WITH 999-999-9999, ALSO TELEMARKETERS ARE ALSO SENDING A 800-XXX-XXXX TO GET BY THE CALLER BLOCK. IF YOU DIAL THE 800 # YOU GET A RECORDING BUT THEY HAVE YOUR CALLER ID AND THEY CALL YOU BACK. THE BASTARDS ARE GETTING SMART
