I have heard 2 different schools of thought on this topic. The one thought is that the PBX should be shutdown and restarted at least once a year while the other thought is that it is not necessary to shutdown and restart the PBX as a psrt of maintenance on a regular basis.
Just wondering if anybody has any thoughts on this?

Thanks

The last I heard Nortel recommended a sysload once a year to clean up any problems, or possible problems.

My thoughts are if you do minimal changes and things are running smoothly with no problems than you should be ok. But if changes are constantly being made and lots of other applications are running that are a part of the M1, such as Symposium, OTM, Call Pilot, etc. than it would do nothing but good to give it a kick in the backside once in a while.

Can you provide a reference showing that "Nortel recommended a sysload once a year"?

Traffic on specific loop

I'm with T on this issue, why knock down a working switch?

If you use the mov/cpy the way they are documented to work and you perform your LD 1 audits on regular intervals there is simply no reason to have to shut down the switch just for the sake of doing it.

Nortel's recommendation on sysloading once a year was something that I had heard from a few different sources. I can't find anything in writing from Nortel to back that up. My appologies for any confusion.

I'm backing Jack on this one. No need to sys load if all is working well. Can't stress enough using the mov command properly, and LD 1 when alot of moves and changes take place. Meridian's are made to work from the day of the cut till---------.

You know a guy named Maverick once posted a "To Reboot or Not to Reboot" article about this. I will see if I can dig it up.
