Exclamation HELP!!! Can a Modem ext. dial the 8 or 9?

Is there a way to have an analog port dial the 8 or 9 to get an outside line?

It's fairly complex, but you should look up Pretranslation in the Features and Services NTP. It uses speed dial lists linked to pretranlation indexes as modification tables for various user groups to modify the first digit dialed. Often used in hotel environments to adjust for "prefix"+room number.

Once turned on, you could assign the analog ports you want to XLST group (say) "2" and retranslate 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,0 as 81,82,83,84,85,86,87,88,89,80 or 91,92,93,94,95,96,97,98,99,90 respectively.

Be careful to set up your initial pretranslation lists "0" and "1" and associated speed call lists with "no change" before you turn on the master feature in CDB as all your trunks and stations will start out by default in XLST group 0 and attendants in XLST group 1. If you don't have these built right you'll be turning the feature back off again right quick.

I don't care for modifying digits on digital phones as the displays can get weird when they refresh from what was dialed to what is in memory, but analog should not have this problem.

I'd recommend configuring XLST groups 0 and 1 as passthrough with no modification of digits and play with XLST 2 and up.

Ok I did apply all changes and when I go off-hook on the 500 that has XLST 2 the call will not go through. I have to dial the "8". When I to a TRAC on the TN, as soon as I go off-hook I see the 8 being dialed.

What am I missing?

This is wack! I get this all setup, I make a test call to AB, and I dial 1585 and it rings an extension here at work! How come my "8" for an outside line is not working?

I will try and print everything out...

This is working now. I needed to to create XLAT 3 PRE 88. Then changed the XLST 3 on the modem TN and calls go out with just 1+the number.
