NTP -- Network Time Protocoll -- ??????

Anyone have a way of getting the NTP server to show what time it thinks it is?

With NTP set on the SS and DST set on switch/Pbx/CS who has priority?

Having trouble finding a straight forward explanation on how all this is designed to work.

Any and all help is appreciated.

THANKS!!!!!!!

Jack

NTP service synchronize time Call Server and from him synchronized all rest elements CS1000.
If NTP server available through ELAN, that is chosen NTP MODE CS, if through TLAN - NTP MODE SS.

Jack, are you using 1120e/1140e phones with SIP? Provisioning sever is based on "Zulu" time. Not sure if I'm going in the right direction here. If these are the phones that you are having trouble with post back.

G,

Not an issue with specific phones.

Got a site where DST kicked in but later SS readjusted time.

Most of the sites where NTP is set will not allow to mess with time in LD 2, so I'm wondering if DST was set before an upgrade if CS knows who to listen to for a time upgrade.

Not sure if you know this or not, but this might give you some insight.

Quote:
The term NTP applies to both the protocol and the client/server programsthat run on computers. The programs are compiled by the user as an NTP client, NTP server, or both. In basic terms, the NTP client initiates a time request exchange with the time server. As a result of this exchange, the client is able to calculate the link delay, its local offset, and adjust its local clock to match the clock at the server's computer. As a rule, six exchanges over a period of about five to 10 minutes are required to initially set the clock. Once synchronized, the client updates the clock about once every 10 minutes, usually requiring only a single message exchange. redundant servers and varied network paths are used to ensure reliability and accuracy. In addition to client/server synchronization, NTP also supports broadcast synchronization of peer computer clocks. NTP is designed to be highly fault-tolerant and scalable.
It may be at the other end
