i2050 Question - 1.4 vs 3.0

Currently, we're running release 1.4 build 385 and the only major problems we've encountered is the display of the phone can sometimes go blank on some calls (sometimes you see the desktop where the display of the phone is) but it's random on when it happens. That and vista support for this version doesn't exist.

I spoke with our support provider and they said we could upgrade to release 3 for about $2300.

What I'm wondering, is there that many improvements in the software to justify me trying to persuade our CFO to fork out 2300 on a strictly software upgrade? I know we're behind on both the PBX and signalling server patches (CFO is hesitant to fork over a great deal of money for upgrades).

Anyone have any thoughts, comments, concerns they'd like to share?

We're running;

Nortel Option 61c (VERSION 2921, RELEASE 3)
Symposium 6
We are running a signalling server (SW version sse-2.11.03) with 3 Voice Gateway Media Cards.

Thanks in advance
