Changing voice ports to ACCESS ports

I have a site that the on-site contact says that they can't access the maint. term anymore. They can't remember the last time that they actually logged in at the terminal. They usually go in through the dial-up modem. The VT520 is receiving messages from the PBX but none of the keystrokes are being registered. The switch is an Option 11C with release 25.3 software. What settings are recommended in the real world?

Sounds like the baud rate is correct if your receiving, parity should be 8N1. If this is correct tell them to remove the RS232 connector and short pins 2-3 and type on the keyboard, it should display on the terminal

Upgrade Tool = upgrading a customer to 6.0

The ADAN shows this as being 9600, 8, N, 1. The VT520 is also set this way. Now, the onsite person says that they were 'playing with it' last night and I just don't know what the terminal has on it. Could some one send me a step-by-step for the terminal that is attached to an 11C in the USA.

I know that voice mail is access through this same terminal through a keystroke. Please, I need some serious hand holding here. I will thank you in advance.

Rachelle- Here are the settings. Dumb terminals are pretty cut and dry not much to them. Mine is hooked to an 81c , but it doesn't matter what they are hooked to.

F3 = setup
F4 = toggle to next port. S1 or S2.

Setup
Terminal Type = vt520
Emulation =vt520
VT Default char. set = ISO Latin 1
Transmit 7 bit control ( should be checked)

Communications:
Word size = 8bit
Parity = 0
Stop Bit = 1
Trans Speed = 9600
Receive = Transmit speed
Flow control = xon/xoff
Receive Flow = xon/xoff
Threshold = 64 bit
Rate = 150 cps
Ignore nul character ( should be checked)

At lot of times if you just turn the terminal off and back on it will fix the problem.

Hope this helps. If not let me know.

Luck!

I concur with depearce,
If they never saved the settings, just turn off the terrminal and turn back on it should restore old settings that were working.

Setting up 1-900 permissions

I am onsite and it turns out that the port on the pig-tale is apparently bad. I swapped the dial-up modem and the maint terminal and the terminal came up. I am not able to dial in to the modem now. This is an 11C and the cable is an A0402754 NTBK48AA. Does anyone know how much this cable will cost and where I can get one quickly? I am located in Hagerstown, Maryland. Thanks!

rachelle

Rachelle,
Before replcing the cable try rebuilding the TTY port using the same settings. This has cleared alot of problems for me.
