Hi Guy's, do any of you have any information regarding secure modems with call back and Password protection functionality. cable and IP modems considered. We are looking to further secure our PBX's. Any help would be great. Thanks in advance.

DF- We use a Microfrime Sentinel 2000s. 4 programable ports, Password protected and
sends alarm notification alert to pre-programed number. ( If that's what you meant for Call back.)

I concur that the Sentinels are a decent box. Thye are now manufactured by ION Networks, www.ion-networks.com. We have about 150+ and are having good success with them. There is alot of capabilities to the boxes. There are multiple ways to authenticate including passkey authentication. We are acutally trialling a product called PRIISMS which is a gateway to all of our secured devices. Users authentiate to PRIISMs and PRIISMS either telnets to the Sentinel or uses a digboard modem pool to dial out, and perfroms another authentication. Very goo for controlling access. If you want more info send me a private note with your contact info and I would be happy to discuss.

*Note: you may hear people slame the Sentinels in the early days about 4+ years ago, there wre some issues with the boxes, particularly modems would go to sleep. Anyway, as far as I am concerned all issues have been resolved, and we have had good success.
