UNEQ Issue on OPT 11 System

I hired a vendor to do some work at a remote location on our OPT 11 Nortel system (call Pilot) - the office made an addition and the vendor left me a voicemail stating that he punched down a phone to TN 15 4 and that I need to assign a DN to it. When I stat that port it shows UNEQ. Which if I remember right, tells me there is nothing plugged in correct? I have verified that she plugged a phone in. I'm looking at try to get his phone up and running but am stuck - any idea's or suggestions?

you will need to add a spare number on 15 4

first find a spare DN

LD 20
req prt
type ludn
cust x
c/r till all your spare numbers are printed then select a spare

LD 20
req chg
type 2616 ( 2616 for a digital set or 500 for analog )
cust x
TN 15 4
item key 0 scr xxxx ( this is the DN you have selected )
c/r till the end

then go to LD 95

req new
type name
cust x
dn xxxx
then enter a name

try that

Thanks for the reply,

I found a spare but you lost me on this section:
LD 20
req chg
type 2616 ( 2616 for a digital set or 500 for analog ) cust x item key 0 scr xxxx ( this is the DN you have selected ) c/r till the end

I go to LD20
I put in chg
I put 2616 for type because it is digital
but then it asks for the TN - do I put in the 15 4 TN or the TN of the spare?

If when you STAT the TN the reply is UNEQ you need to start with "NEW" and not "CHQ". You're programming a new phone on TN 15 4 not changing a phone.

Yep sounds like vendor only did wiring but did not program the TN.

Build a new TN or copy an existing and you should be good to go.

As an aside I'd leave a message for this vendor not to send that tech out again.

As Jack says, you need to program NEW. It sounds like you had a run in with what is too often the case. A technician that does as little as possible to get by. Good luck.
