newbie - convert analogue unit to digital

Help me please!

I have an analogue 500 handset that has extension 4162 and is on TN 6 9, however I want it to be a digital 2616 handset and have found a digital TN located at 4 8 but im having trouble moving it... im doing the following

LD 20
MOV
500
6 9
4 8

and at the 4 8 point it is failing with SCH0127

Any ideas what im doing wrong...and even better can you tell me how to do it right?

Thanks in advance

David.

print out a TNB for an existing 2616 and you will see, plus you will need the other settings as well, NCOS TGAR ect.

HI Bob, thanks for replying so quickly...is there a way of copying from an existing digital extension...ie i want exactly the same settings on this new handset that exist on extension 4101 which is located on TN 4 0. Can i do a copy somehow and if so can you write how to do it? I am a complete newbie thrown in at the deep end and dont know what a TNB, and NCOS or a TGAR is! Thanks in advance...

You have two options:

1. You can print out a copy of the existing tn in
ld 20
REQ prt
TYPE tnb
CUST 0
TN (existing)

Then follow the steps

2. Copy the exixting tn in

ld 20
REQ cpy 1
TYPE (Telephone type) exap. 500 analog
TN (Existing)
TOTN (new tn)

Just FYI: The reason you had the problem posted originally is that you can't copy or move an analogue type set (on an analogue TN) to a digital TN: they use different hardware (analogue = ALC, digital = DLC). If you remove the front cover from your switch you will see a range of the above card types in various slots.
Try and find the administration guides for your system. Look up LD 10 for analogue sets, and LD 11 for digital sets. There you will find all the features and options you can configure for phone sets.
You should have lot's of fun going forward, if you get stuck, don't be shy to ask..
