Wink CPPM Installation

Problem Description
My laptop is connected to the CPPM using the 2-port cables (NTAK19AE port 0), baud rate 9600 8,N,1 using a null modem. I have inserted the compact flash(512MB) in front of the CPPM while another 1GB compact flash is in the CPPM.
While powered up on the system and waited for 5 min, nothing being shown on my laptop. Both LEDs on CPPM are in 'RED'.
The file that I stored in the 512 compact flash are as follows;
1)backup
2)install
3)keycode
4)licenses
5)swload
6)utilities
7)Bios
Patches
9)bootrom.sys
10)nvram.sys
Please advise if my procedures are right based on the above description. I dont have any NTAK19AE cable and CPPM spare so I cant determine if one of them is faulty.

Thanks

Interesting that you had to reload the software, did the software come pre loaded on the CF card? or did you load the software

If you loaded the software, did you follow the "make rmd bootable" procedure the first time?

Glad its working, loving the new CS1000E systems

Ya, The software initailly came pre loaded from the factory. And yes, I follow the procedures 'mkbootrmd' as well.

I have the same problem as Robotcop...I don't get any output from the serial port interface. I've tried with all possible cables and combinations, but still no success.

Stokerel,

What type of cable are you using?
You need the 2-port cable off the CPPM
A Straight cable to serial port of pc
Hyperterm or Procomm.

Seen issues if trying to use serial-to-usb cables, suggest not using those unless absolutely sure they are working properly.

True, I have found that the ($20 to $50) garden variety USB to serial adapters have major problems, all flakey, and intermittent. Just what you need when you're troubleshooting a problem.

If you buy the high end ones ($75 to $100) then you will have better success. There are lots of comments on the web rating these, so read up before you buy!

thanks for the replies guys. In fact, the problem was the RAM module that was not properly attached in the slot, and the CCPM didn't even booted, although the leds were both lit.
I also suspected the USB to serial adapter I use, but after a quick test it worked just fine.
Thanks again for the posts
