I have an Option 81c Rls 24.25

I 'm logged into the Switch modem all day and when I leave at night I turn the modem off. Some how the our ETAS center can get into our switch but I can't figure out how they are doing it.

Facts...I think

Careful what you ask.... don't you know that Nortel's ETAS have powers beyond the physical?!?! They access the switch via psychokinesis! Most Canadians have psychic powers but only the most advanced work for Nortel. The way to know if they have accessed your switch is that your UPS batteries will begin to leak. I better stop here; I have probably told you too much already. Hey, my nose is bleeding...... ahhhh!

* With apologies to the movie "Scanners" *

They are probably getting in through the Core MODEM.

What is this core modem. Is it standard on all Meridians? Who exactly has access to it?

Multi Line Phones

Each core processor has the ability to be directly accessed via the core modems which are quite simply a port. Typically used for diagnostic/remote patching by vendor & or ETAS as it prvides faster access to system.

Look in your Install NTP's for a more detailed description.

As far as access that depends on how secure your site is, I personally see no reason to ever have the core modems powered on unless I'm working onsite w/ ETAS.

Option 61 Shut Down Procedure

That's it SD! You have leaked proprietary Nortel information!

Expect a call from Nortel Security, along with a full scan of your undergarment drawer as per NTP 8675-309.
