Hi all. Can Some body shed a light on Media Gateways??? i mean cs1000MG what is that exactly for?? Does it is like a remote shelf???

A Media Gateway is configured like a Superloop with the exception that it's connection to the Call Server is via IP instead of Fiber or Copper. In Release 5.0 the MGs can be Survivable with a locally installed CP PM Processor, and can actually register to 1 or 2 Call Servers on the network.

Think of it as an IP connected IPE Shelf. In R5.00 CS1000S, CS1000 Chassis, CS1000 Cabinets all can become Media Gateways.
