Hi All - I work at a large Resort (29 Floors, 1800 + rooms) and have a problem.

Situation

We have room numbers 18001 through 18085. It is easily seen that if a guest in any
rooms forgets to dial 9 + 1 + 800 + 1xx-xxxx - That guest will end up ringing room 18001.

With over 1800 rooms, the misdial occurs alot - so we've placed all the 18th floor rooms on Do Not Disturb. The call routes to the Operator and she will ask the caller if he/she is attempting to reach a room or a Toll Free number.............

I was checking out SPN, FLEN, and SDRR last night in hopes of having the switch check for Dialed DIGIT lenght before placing the call. But my problem isn't those who dial 9 correctly - So SPN isn't going to help...

Question????

Is there a way to screen this call:
A guest Dials 1 800 123 1122 and forgets to dial the 9. I would like to switch to see if more than 5 digits (Room DN lenght) have been dialed - If so, assume this is a Toll Free misdial and give
intercept treatment....
If only 5 digits have been dialed then assume this is a correct dial for Room 18xxx and deliver the call.....

Any help would be appreciated...

meridian option 11c password?

Let me guess, the 19th floor gets all of the 1900 calls.

This is a typical problem in hotels.

Most start the room exts with something other than 1 to avoid this.

You are coorect in the assumption that you can play with the sddr tables, etc to
try and evalutae the number of digits dialed, but like you said, you never make into bars.

Unfortunately, as soon as they dial the last fifth digit, it will start ringing that set, since it is an internal call.

I am thinking that maybe you could use a procomm script to change the exts on the 18th floor. Turn them into CDP codes, use entr 0 as a scrren and use sddr to disallow
1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,0, on anything past the 5 digits, setup a second entr, which turns it back into an itnernal call, and replaces the 18XXX with 88XXX and reroutes internally.
I am also assuming that you are using MM with auto logon from the rooms.
If the guests are accustomed to checking their VM from someplace other than their room, you may have a problem. Otherwise changing the exts on 18 should be transparrent to the end users. Except for your front desk that will need to enter
the ext as it actually is and not what the clients think it is.

mrmike - Thanks for the reply..

OK - just to make sure I understand...I think I'm missing a vital step...

I'll convert my existing 180xx room number to CDP's, via (I may be in the wrong load)..

LD 86
REQ New
CUST 0
FEAT DGT
DEL 1 digit
Insrt 8
CTYP CDP

I then change the room numbers to 880xx or someone other dialing plan.

Then setup my SDDR's:

LD 90 - this is where I'm lost - How do I assocaite the CDP with the appropriate NET setting???
