Phantom (or not so phantom) ringback

I'm new to this site, so please excuse any observed rookie behavior. We have a three cabinet Option 11, new in March 2007. It is populated with 4 routes (one 6 member IAO ground start analog, one 9 member IAO ground start analog, one DID T-1, and one OGT T-1). There is a couple dozen digital sets (mostly 3903's and a few 3904's w/22 button add ons, no console) and 150 or so 2500 sets. The owner's telephone has an SCR DN, whose SCN DN appears on three different add on modules, will ring, and when he picks it up, no one is there. He says his display indicates nothing about the call. The call log of the phone shows normal usage calls. Another user has indicated this has happened to them as well. Any ideas? The boss is getting mad.

Good point. Thanks. We have not yet been able to re-create the problem. I believe that something is happening, however I really think it is user error. But if I don't research it and it turns out to be something, I'll be remiss in my responsibilities.....

GROUNDING GROUNDING GROUNDING!

Here are 2 horror stories from my days on the road......

High School - Phantom calls during the school day, never could reproduce at night, entire Option 11C replaced (cards and cabinet)

FIX - Turned out the PBX was on the same ground grid as the elevator (never used at night). Rewired the ground, never was called back.
================================================== ========
Medium size business - Phantom calls to the operator, again everything was replaced....

FIX - Shorted outdoor ground mounted floodlight was within a few feet of Telco's ground rod (and the PBX). Everytime the light was turned on, enough leak voltage made it through the soil to cause a ring voltage spike in the PBX.

3rd case was TODAY! Large CS 1000E installation, same thing, errors during the day, but nothing at night. There were 2 Nortel technicians riding the elevators all day today.....

I always say, if there is a ground problem, you just don't know, the darn machine may start making decaf coffee
