Information Only Mailbox

We are finally venturing into the Trunk world and have a test bed setup to try and make this work. So not fully up on the PBX terminology to the limit. But am learning more and more. So part of what I say here is from what I recall my boss saying along with stuff I know hehe.

We installed a SMC Trunk on an Option 11C with the DCHIP card in it along with a SDI/DCH card. All configured as far as I know right and all comes up on that side D channel and all. We have that hooked to a router that has a test ATM over to our 81C with the same setup except obviously it has the MSDL card. The D channel comes up on that side no problem. I can ping the other node from each ITG Trunk card no problem. So connectivity works just fine. Both cards are showing LDR no problem and nothing out of the ordinary that I can tell from the logs. I have setup the remote nodes on each one through the Dialing Plan in OTM. My boss was confused on the dialing digits setup, which I believe after reading more how that is supposed to work and I will explain that to him when he gets back from another office today. But he thought Dial Plan Digits was the # of digits needed like we are on a 6 digit extension here so he though 6 needed to go in there. Well after reading I realize that is the actual digits to be dialed to know that it needs to route through the trunk. So currently the ONLY thing I have in there not understanding or knowing enough about the Dial Plan stuff etc, is a LOC/Location Code of Dial Plan Digits 2, 0 to delete and nothing in the insert blank. And that is only on the Option 11C side, I just have the remote node setup on the 81C being as technically we don’t have any phones programmed up on the 11C for it to call. We use that switch for our Disa switch. Currently if we dial through the 11C using Access Codes that we setup to route over the trunk, all we get is Reorder Tone when we dial an extension to the 81C. Boss did a trace on the call and as far as he can tell it does pick up and try to go through the trunk, so it does seem to be trying. As far as I know not understanding it all my boss has all the programming right, only thing that might be a catch and you might be able to tell me, is that being as the test ATM network we are using I guess only has support for 24 channels from what the boss understands so everything is programmed up as 24 channels, the DCH’s the trunks etc, only thing that is set to 32 is technically the Trunk card itself in OTM for Card Density. Don’t know if that might be causing us issues or not??? Can you think of anything we might be missing? If you need more info let me know. I am at a loss and not understanding it all doesn’t help. But I have worked on it off and on for a couple days now and am not getting anywhere hehe.

Thanks for any help.

Chad

PRI connectivity problems

I will post my own answer. I had asked a few different sources and one responded. It was in my dialing plan in OTM. Since I am unfamiliar with the different items, I had someone explain it and it was due to not having any DSC's setup. I put them in and boom it worked! Currently not working with QOS turned on but if I was a guessing man I am assuming that is because I have no fallback route turned on in the switch, but not positive on that. But will be tackling that next.

Thanks

Chad
