Location: Toronto, Ontario Rep Power: 41 ![]() | Hello, I just created two new TIE lines on our PBX which I need to extend from the Basement (Where my switch is) to the 5th floor (where my server sits) This is how I am going to get up to there. RJ45 from the back of the switch, splice other end and punch down on BIX1A. BIX1A extends to the 5th Floor Riser where I come out on another BIX1A, from this BIX1A it extend it over to the BIX1A which goes to a standard DATA jack on the 5th Floor. From the DATA jack I am going to run another eternet cable which will connect to the back of the server. I am having a bit of a challenge with the color coating, specifically with the spliced end of the eternet cable going into the bix, not sure which colors I need to punch down where. I tried a multitude of combinations, I have a loopback at the end of my jack on the 5th Floor but I never get a loopback regardless of which color combination I use. I've cleared all the usual suspects, I know the cable is good, I am on the right jack, etc.... Any help would be appreciated.

Location: Oregon Rep Power: 6 ![]() | If it's standard color code on your cables it should be the Orange and Blue pairs Pins 1,2 & 4,5. On standard ethernet patch cables it should be 1 wo 2 ow 3 wg 4 bw 5 wb 6 gw 7 wb 8 bw so you would punch the cables corresponding to 1,2 and 4,5 to 2 sets of riser pairs then xconnect the riser pairs to the data jack pairs 1,2 4,5. You may need a crossover to make it work it which case you would flip the xconnect on the riser pairs so 4,5 & 1,2. Depending on the length of the run, you may need to change the loss settings on the T1 card, or use a external CSU. Hope this helps Wherewolf
