I see that the following firmware files for the ITG SMC Card are available on the Nortel site.

"SMCFW82.BIN"
"SMCFW84.BIN"

I have tried upgrading to the latest firmware but the upgrade fails.

I have tried with normal method after the SMC card was up.
After that did not work I tried with the JKL method right after boot.

This is using the procedure in the zip file "SMC_FW_V84_Upgr_Procedure_1[1].1.zip" called "NTVQ01AB_BB_SMC_Firmware_Upgrade_1.1.pdf"

I am sure I have the right level 2 and PDT passwords. I am sure of this because I was able to upgrade the firmware from version 6.7 to version 6.8. Then from 6.8 to version 6.9. No problem with that upgrade.

But the upgrade from version 6.9 to either 8.2 or 8.4 fails. The file transfer works from either a local source (PCMCIA CARD) or a remote source (another SMC Card). But each time after the file transfer the following failure message occurs.

tUpgradeXa: connected to 127.0.0.1 OK
Upgrade packet: 0..100..200..300..400..500..600..700..800..900..10 00..1100..1200
..1300..1400..1500..1600..1700..1800..1900..
tUpgradeXa error: bank checksumming failed
tUpgradeXa: 8051 XA Upgrade Failed...


Anyone have any solutions, suggestions or experiences to share on this subject?

Any Bulletins for upgrading the SMC cards I missed? My SMC card type is a NTVQ01BA. The modern 32 port media card.

Or are the 8.2 and 8.4 firmware versions not valid for the SMC cards no matter what they say and how they show on the Nortel site for the "IP Line and Voice Gateway Media Cards (VGMC)" software download section?
