Cool Nortel CallManager Migration

We have recently implemented CallPilot 4.0 in our environment but we haven’t enabled the CallPilot reporter option yet. CallManager resides on CallPilot server. What I have understood is that if we want to work with CallPilot Repoter we have to uninstall CallPilot Manager from CallPilot server and have to install it on a dedicated web server. Problem is all our configuration is done and it will be a lengthy process to uninstall/reinstall and implement the whole CallManager on new server. My question is that is there any way through which we can migrate the CallManager only from CallPilot server to the webserver?

If some one has any tips regarding this I would really appreciate your help in telling me the solution.

I don't think that you need to "De-install" callpilot manager from the actual CP server. I belive that you just install CP Manager (The CP Reporter is installed at the same time as an option to CP Manager) on a stand alone web server. (You'll need the latest NTP's for CP - there are security settings that need to be set on the stand-alone web server prior to trying to login through it the first time. - Some of the slightly older NTP versions have incorrect or missing info.)
By the way - I've never been able to get Reporter to work - and I haven't figured out why. But I'll keep trying when I get a chance. There's something in the Reporter installation guide in the reporter NTP that talks about it being on the same network segment - no firewall inbetween.

Good Luck

Thanks for reply. In this case we will be having two versions of callmanager running on the same subnet. doest they conflict with each other?

No, because if you're logging in to the CP Web Server, then your NOT logging in to the CP manager that exists on the CP Server itself. Look at the diagrams in the NTP for the standalone web server installation. You should see what I mean. Just be sure to keep the names straight and when you login, use the "name" of the CP server on the login page, not the IP address.

You probably already know this but the web server and cp pc have to be on the same subnet.
Also we had a problem here with McAfee blocking the reporter and had to setup a rule on McAfee to allow it just FYI

Could you elaborate at little more? Like maybe post the rule? I haven't seen any reports from Mcafee that has shown a blocked port from Reporter, but that's sure the way it's acting. I would be really appreciative if you could dig up the changes that you had to make in Mcafee to make reporter work. I'm leaving town for a few days, but will thank you in advance - just in case.....

Go to the CP Reporter server and open up access protection I believe and view logs and it will tell you if it is getting blocked.
You will have to put in the application name in there to allow it.

Just a thought, may not be your problem but i will get you a step closer to solving the puzzle.
Have a good weekend!

Hello,

I have been trying to get CallPilot Manager for CallPilot Ver 4.0 installed on a standalone webserver for a couple days. You mentioned that there are some security settings that need to be change and that the latest NTP's are needed. I'm very new into the Nortel World so I'm not sure where to get those. Our end goal is to get the Reporter installed.

I can bring up the CallPilot Manager interface, but when I try to login, I get a failed attempt but if you check the CP Server, it shows no failures.

Thanks,
Eric

Read thru the following NTP on the section of installing on a standalone web server, there are instructions for security settings on the webserver, and a little on the callpilot server itself (as I recall....)

www142.nortelnetworks.com/techdocs/CP_4_0_STD/pdf/555-7101-202_1.10.pdf
(if you can't get to this NTP, you may need to register with Nortel's website for access.....)
Hope this helps...

Thank you for your help. I think it helps.

I checked and there is a minor version difference between our CallPilot server and this version of the manager. In the registry it says it is 04.04.04.00 and the help on our CallPilot server says 04.04.04.08.

I'm not sure what a PEP is or where to get it. We've contacted our support vendor and we hope they can help.

Thanks!
