Question E1 Outage and PEG

Our ACD Report 3 shows the PEG count 1 and 60 minutes each hour but I can not convince our Nortel vendor that one E1 is out of service or "busied out". We have two E1 for a total of 60 trunks. I never see any calls on the second E1 and should. So I would welcome any suggestions that I can give our Nortel vendor who is less that fully trained unfortunately.

Have you got access to the PABX?

If you do, you could logon to the pabx and check the status of the E1 using LD 60 and LD 96 (DCH)

If not, you could also open the cabinet and see if it has any "Yellow" or "Red" alarms, or is OOS (out of service).

If you can login to the PABX, check the following:

DCH 20 and Loop 4 (E1 4) are just examples I have used, obiously use your own based on what is printed out!

Code:
LD 96
.stat dch
This will tell you if your D-Channels are established. They should say EST (something like bellow). Looking at your report you should have 3?. If any of there status is DSBL or AEST your link is down. AEST means the DCH has not come up, and could signafy faulty hardware, or the Telco Provider needs to reset the E1.

Code:
DCH 020 : OPER EST ACTV AUTO DES : 04_NLS_e22-3-112
Check the status of the loop in LD 60

Code:
LD 60
.stat
PRI2 LOOP 4 - ENBL
REF CLK: ENBL
TRACKING
SERVICE RESTORE: YES
ALARM STATUS: ACCEPTABLE

CH 31 - DCH 20
If any of them are MBSY or DSBL, this would be causing your problem, sometimes a reset of the E1 can help..

Reset:
Code:
LD 96
.dis dch 20
.****

LD 60
.disl 4
OK
.*****

LD 48
.dis msdl 20
.enl msdl 20 fdl
<lots of downloading text wait for .>
.****

LD 60
.enll 4
OK
.*****

LD 96
.stat dch 20
If reseting does not help, there is either a problem from the Telco, or hardware.

I would also suggest you find another vendor since yours is not very clued up on how to assist you!
