THE GREATEST

I know this is probably going to rub some of the people on this board the wrong way. However, I have sat by watching this board become more and more dysfunctional.

I thought the title of this board is PBX Info::Your free PBX, PABX and telephone system resource.

I appreciate this resource and I was going to subscribe to this board and support it until there became an all out campaign to subscribe or we aren't going to help you!

In the recent weeks there have come to be 2 very strong camps of thought that are driving this board...1. You need to be a subscriber 2. You shouldn't be an end user

If you don't jump on the bandwagon, it appears that certain members blacklist you from this board...I am sure there are others out there with the same thoughts as I have but are too afraid to post as they depend on this board to receive answers and don't want to go against the flow of the board in fear that they won't receive help.

I have seen people outright say that if I don't subscribe, they won't help me
I have also seen people say that if I'm an end user they will not assist.

So I already have 2 strikes against me. I know that I can subscribe and I really wanted to before this environment got so hostile. I know I don't have to post here or read the posts here but it just seems to be a bit contradictory to tout this site as a free site yet if you don't subscribe, don't expect to receive any help or get badgered for not subscribing.

A very frustrated Fonchick

Ring to busy after X number of calls to one line

here here! Thank you fonchick. I am glad that that you are saying what a few of us have been saying. This is a great resource but has become more like a click. The subscriber and vendor click. If you go against them you will have your posting removed or they just wont help.

Trying to keep it nice

I also am trying to play nice!!!

Let's run this down, 5,000 users (+guests) 50 subscribers, how is this a mangable model?

As far as the end user debate, I'm not exactly sure if I agree or disagree with those thoughts. I see both sides of the equation yet I also think that a middle ground can/should be reached.

In essence the browbeatin, beggin and pleadin is simply a means to keep this site alive & viable. At no point were any of these efforts a personal afront, while some of the responses have had just the opposite slant.

Hope this clears the air!!!

Jack

Trying to keep it nice

Fonchick,

Just subscribe. .

LMAO.. . please let's not take this so seriously. People can make their own decisions about subscribing or not and about helping or not. It's like i tell my kids "we all make choices, choose wisely". Don't do it out of spite or bitterness. . do it out of love. .feel the love. .just subscribe. .ha ha.

Live it, love it, subscribe to it.
Be cool, stay in school!

I guess I'm standing on the double solid lines on the PBXinfo highway. I subscribed because I feel that this a helpful site to me. Do I benefit from it? Do I see a value in it? Quite frankly, I don't care if someone who has a question or a problem is a subscriber or not. If I can help, I'm going to. There are many motivational aspects that come into play when deciding to sub or not. Some based on a business platform and others from a more personal platform.

Yes, you are correct. The two camps do exist for whatever reasons. However, I am in the middle high up in my tree-fort looking out over all this information and decided it would impact me negatively if this resource vanishes. So I subscribed.

Dial by Name - wrong name issue

Scott,
Is there any room left in that tree house? I'm a middle of the road kind of guy myself. Yes, I know the site needs subscibers in order to stay alive. But one of the reasons that I subscribed is because of the help that I recieved from the other members. I don't think anything is going to be helped by everyone taking up sides on this. If I undestand this correctly this site was established for the sharing of information. How will any of our situations be inproved by us facing off against each other? As Benjamin Franklin said "We must hang together, or we shall surely hang separately."

In my opinion I don't see anything wrong with asking people to subscribe......I do see a problem with turning people away because they aren't subscribers or vendors......maybe they're broke and can't afford to subscribe. Will you answer their questions if they're a vendor but don't subscribe?

I have been reading this board for about 2 months. I have seen it a few times when a user, who has not subscribed, has been treated unfairly. I love this board!!! But it's becoming way too opinionated of others when we don't know their situations.

I just hope this little post won't get me kicked out of the click and not get any of my questions answered. This post has helped me out alot and I'm sure it has helped alot of others....so why can't we just answer everybody's questions and disregard the little caption under everyone's name. Is their a way that that can be taken off?

Thanks for taking the time
Tim

HELP ( I belive I need AC1 changed )

I love camping I love trees They kinda go hand and hand. At least every time I went camping there were trees there. One time I went camping and I set my tent up on one side of the mountian and some others set their tent up on the other side of the mountian. if it wasn't for the smoke they were blowing I wouldn't have seen them at all.

Moral of the story.

Don't get side tracked by the smoke from the other camp. There are enought people in your camp to make this camp "site" worth wide.

Join and enjoy the learning.

OK, I have stayed out of this until now. I am probably going to make some enemies with what I am about to say, but oh well here goes.

If everyone, and I mean everyone, would just loose the attitudes, this would be a much nicer place. And I am speaking to both camps on this.

1.) The site is free
2.) The site became what it was because no one drew any lines
3.) It DOES cost money to run a web site
4.) If you want to donate, you should
5.) If you don't want to, then don't

This site is here to help everyone, at every level. Heck, I threw a lot of stuff out to you folks when you first started here, and many of you listened and learned. If you think you are too good to pass anything along, then I feel sorry for you,

To those of you that feel you are being shunned for not being subscribers, remember the time that is dedicated to this site by the folks that answer most of the questions, is there personal time. Quite frankly it would cost a fortune to hire a contractor to get the information you can get from here free.

I'm not going to comment anymore on this, and I hope this topic dies off and we get on doing 'the right thing'
