Location: Lou, KY Rep Power: 11 ![]() | Making DID Anyone out there ever repair your own devices? What tools do you use? Do you have commonly occurring issues that you have quick fixes for? I have a 2216 that has given up the ghost. When you plug it in all you get are flashing carrots in the LCD. Other phones work on the line so, it is definately my device. If I can fix this myself, GREAT. If not, so be it but, I want to give it a good try. rachelle __________________ "This participation is personal and does not represent the United States Census Bureau". Rachelle, I don't think I would recommend that, simply because there are certified people to do that who won't screw it up (well most of the time they don't). For $50 you can get it repaired and save yourself a few headaches. Also, you might void any kind of warranty or servicability on the unit if they see you have opened it. I'm thinkin doing home repair on phones and devices would equate trying to repair a card in your switch. Just doesn't seem like a good idea. But hey. . i'm a gen Xer. . throw it out. .buy a new one. . Send it in. . get it repaired. . move on. . AB

Location: nc Rep Power: 8 ![]() | Repair of a 2216 device The blinking carrots is an indication that you may have it plugged into an analog port verses a digital port. I would check that. As far as de-assembling the 2216, I'm with AB on this.

Location: Lou, KY Rep Power: 11 ![]() | Norstar_Plus Modular ICS Install It is an old model and there is no warranty on it any longer. If it was a quick fix then I was up for that. This isn't an analog vs. digital signal issue. It is definately the device. Thanks for your thoughts. rlc __________________ "This participation is personal and does not represent the United States Census Bureau". They make me say this.
