Wordnet?

I have a new PCMCIA card and I'm tryin go backup the 11c to the card. From what I've read, the PCMCIA card needs to be formated with something less than W2K. I formated the card using W98.

When I install the card in slot, the 11c immediately complains with a message:

"RTP003 Unknown report (not in DB): cat# - 9, report# = 4594"

That doesn't stop me so, I go to LD143 and issue the ABKO command and I immediately get several complaints from the 11c:

"EDD007"
"EDD000"
"TEMU 105 380003 Failure open/create dir /b:/u/ on PCMCIA"
"TEMU 112 Error occurred backing up external data base check....."

I suspect the 11c doesn't like the formating of the PCMCIA. Is there away to get the 11c to format the card?

11c and PCMCIA Card

go into LD 143 and issue the UPGRADE command.

Insert your PCMCIA card in the A: slot on the SSC.

Do a Datababse Archive from the Utilities Menu.

Name the file, and Voilla you have a complete back-up.

BKO rarely works I have found...

XBK is the remote command, but the archive is much quicker.

i thought that method was for large switches only

i would use XBK to a laptop/pc then drag the file to the pcmia card..i have never had any probs with XBK

6.0 when will it be available?

I've never encountered any problems with the PCMCIA card backup. Slot B is the one for backups.. just remember it this way.. do an ARCHIVE in A and a BKO in B .. thats how I always did them. Its been awhile and the older I get, the less memory I retain :^(

Colin: The backups for PCMCIA have been around for a few years now (SSC CPU), and they are extremely quick (seconds to pop in, bko and pop out), as opposed to d/l from modem or direct connect to TTY port. If you have multiple sites, you can do this and save 80% of your time. Lastly, if you do XBK, please make sure you do a XVR (rls 22 and later) so you can "verify" your backup isnt corrupt. Many times I've done a XVR after the XBK and found my files dont match. Might save you a major headache come crunch time.

Card replacement

Well, I'm batting 1000. It doesn't seem to work either way. I tried both ways and neither seems to work.

Interestingly, when I attempt to backup using the UTILITIES, the system prompts me for a name. No matter what name i enter, the system comes back and tells me it is in use. I've tried about 10 different names and each time the system reports that the name is in use. Any idea what I'm doing wrong?

"Open" analog extension...

Isn't there a restriction on TTY#0 being the only port that the UPGRADE command can be run from? I remember running into this on my 11c when changing ISM parameters (adding TNs to the system). I had to swap cables to put my terminal on TTY#0 to enter the new ISM and keycode values.

Why are u using ld 143? Use ld 43 and bko. I have never had a prob with any op11 or pcm card. You are not trying to do an upgrade, just back up the system!!!!!
