TELRAD

Yes, I've been told that Win2K is a problem so, the first thing I did was to reformat using Win'98 to make sure to wipe out the Win2K.

After reading all these posts. Are you all saying that .....If I have a PCMCIA card in my option 11 it is not necessary to do a back up to a floppy with a laptop? If so what is the proper command to use to do a backup to the PCMCIA card. :casstet: :casstet:

Newbie needing help-Call Forward

"RTP003 Unknown report (not in DB): cat# - 9, report# = 4594"

I received this message when I tried to use a non-SanDisk flash card on opt11 rls 25.10. I believe it is caused by the manufacturer not being recognized by the switch. I did not experiment to see which manufacturers would work. I just went with the SanDisk. I believe others have also used Kingston successfully.

Shouldn't the mfg name be transparent to the OS? Why would the 11c care about the MFG?

Option 11 backup or EDD to pcmcia?

Good news. We've located the problem. I was using a Kingston PCMCIA case with Kingston Compact Flash memory. It didn't work. Today, I used my Kingston case with Viking Compact Flash memory and things worked. I was able to backup my system to the Viking memory.

It is interesting to note that the 11c is so sensitive to the MFG of the memory card.

Good luck to others.

Memory loss on MICS

Yes and no. It appears that you can't purchase a true PCMCIA memory card any more. The folks at Kingston have made a PCMCIA type of device that solves this problem. One end is a typical PCMCIA connection and the other end accepts a Compact Flash card. I think it is intented for people with digial cameras that use Compact Flash. They remove the card from the camera and install it into the PCMCIA device and insert it into their computer. They now have a way to "download" their images.

By using this same device, I can install the PCMCIA (with Compact Flash card instered into the device) into the PBX slot. I now use the LD 143 commands to backup my PBX to the memory card. Fast, easy and convenient and on top of that, I don't even have to take my laptop to the phone room (1/4 mile away) to perform backups. I just carry the card to the PBX in my shirt pocket.

Now the MOST IMPORTANT PART....I remove the Compact Flash and put it into my DATA-SAFE -or- move it to an off-site location. A Data-safe is more temperature resistant than a fire safe.

I emphisize the last part. Put the memory card somewhere safe -or- burn the data to a CD-ROM and put the CD-ROM some place safe. Something as simple as a leaky roof, a trash can fire, a water main break or some other unfortunate event can make your life "uncomfortable". The best part is if you should be so unfortunate as to have an event.......When you you bring the memory card back from off-site or can reproduce the data....Not only will your boss give you the warm and heart-felt handshake for doing such a good job, he might even allow you the "privledge" of working over the weekend at straight time to fix the broken water pipe, fix the hole in the roof or remov the wet/burned carpet and install the new.
