PBX Implementation Checklist

Hi Everybody!

Does it really matter whether or not you have a password protected modem, Teltronics SEB, connected to the PBX or could you just throw a regular modem on there? The problem is that the company did not purchase the software to go with the SEB so they can't change the default password......which is password, and they also have the baud rate set wrong on it. You can still connect but you only get about twenty good lines before it gets ugly. Should they pay Teltronics to go in and fix all that or could they just throw a regular modem on it?

Thanks for any advice!!!!

ACD question

If the SEB is what I am thinking it is, no, it doesnt matter.. as long as everything is configured correctly. But, the SEB probably has other functionality- such as outdialing to your vendor (or old vendor) in case of outage or major site events.

SEB or U.S.Robotics?

If it is an SEB, the reason it starts to print garbage is probably because you are dialing it up at a slower speed than the speed it is connected to the PBX. If you do this, the buffer area in the SEB can only hold so much and it will get over written.
You should be able to dial the SEB up a a higher speed and not have the problem. The SEB should connect to whatever speed you dial it up at. Try it at 9600 baud.

smdr caller id to text ?

Believe me, the LAST thing you want to do is stick a non-password protected modem on there. If a war dialer picks it up, someone willbe in your switch in just a few minutes.

Call Teltronics and get the password set on it, and the baus rates set correctly.
