Cool Callpilot Stand-Alone Server

Hi Folks,

I'm going crazy here. I created a stand-alone server and installed Callpilot Manager in order to use the Reporter function as well as other desktop messaging utilities. Everytime I try to log into the new server, I get an error that my account can not be authenticated even though I am able to log in directly to the Callpilot server using the same credentials. I've searched everything but I can't seem to find a solution. I have purchased 25 licenses for desktop messaging so it's not a license problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

I'm sure you have IIS setup properly so here is what I would do first.

If you haven't done so ping each machine by IP address back and forth and ping by name and make sure it is resolving properly.
Post back and see what you have.

Yeah, IIS was configured correctly. I can get to the CallPilot Manager login page, but when I enter my admin telephone number, I get the 'can't authenticate' message. If I use the actual CP server IP in my browser and use the same admin telephone number, I am authenticated and able to use CP Manager.

The error seems to be generated by CP Manager. There's one issue that may be be responsible: I have my CP server in a Workgroup; not a domain. I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it.

I believe it has to be on the domain but not certain. That's the way i had my old one setup and I had the same issue.
I had to get the network guy to add it to DNS so it would reslove properly and on another machine long ago I had to add the IP's to a host file to get it to work.

I've been having similar problems, I'm now to the point where is says :

"Failed to connect to the CallPilot server. Check server information and try again. If this problem persists the server may be improperly configured. [ -2147467259 ] "

(this looks to me to be a network rpc error...but who knows?)

You can review some helpful things to check on my original thread on this subject at:

Post back if you ever figure out what it was that solved the issue....
I currently don't have time to blow screwing around trying to get it to work.
I'm not too happy with the lack of technical docs on this one....if you do what it tells you, it still doesn't work.....frustrating....

Don't have too much experience here as when we set ours up it works right away with no hiccups.

One thing our vendor tech said was to use the name of the server (ie. CallPilot if going to the actual CallPilot or CallPilotII if going to the reporter (if those are the names you used).) not the IP address. Also once everything was operational, they recomended that we only use the reporter box to access the callpilot so everyone was going through the same host.

I don't know why these would make a difference but this is what we were told and have done.

CP Reporter has to be on it's own server. We had this issue and once we installed CP Reporter on it's own we were good to go.

Wink

Yes it does have to be on it's own server which it sounds like Fuzzy's is.You login into the stand alone web server's IP 0.0.0.0/cpmgr which and then run reporter but try the ping by IP and ping by name .Ping the partial name.
Say you company's name is xyz.corp.com.Try pinging just the xyz first and see what you get.
Also try the host files setup on each server if it doesn't resolve by name or ip.This can be done by going into the C drive,go to system32 folder.Find the drivers folders under that and go to the etc folder and find the hosts file and modify it.Or just do a search for drivers in the search bar and IP and servewr name to each pc.Make sure to take the pound sign out and start all the way to the left.Or if you are on good terms with your network people have them assist you.
This may or may not work since I don't know how your network is setup.
Example
127.0.0.1 xyz.corp.com cpreporter

Thanks for all of your suggestions. I'm still digging! Hopefully I'll be able to post a resolution on here very soon.
