I would like to know if someone has any informations about Succession or CS 1000 Rlse 5.0? Is it installed on a linux platform?

I find it sad that Nortel is moving away from VxWorks to Linux, in terms of brand image (it was one of the things that made Nortel "different" from the rest) and reliability (I trust VxWorks and all RTOSes much more than Linux, just like Cisco is now trusting QNX rather than its old in-house OS).

I hope they won't move to Linux for their network switches too...

I think you'll find that Linux is very reliable. We have machines with uptimes of years- unlike the monthly reboots and/or maintenance on the windoze crap.

I was not talking about Windows, but things like VxWorks or QNX. If space probes, Boeings, medical equipemnt and things like that run on that I can't help thinking Linux won't be as reliable.
Well, if it's at least as reliable as the CS1000 is now with VxWorks, no problem, but that's a "we're different from the rest" argument that goes away.
