Question Option 81c memory

We have an Option 81c running Succession 3.0. We upgraded our meridian mail to call pilot in Feb this year and ever since we have been having all kinds of problems. Cutoffs, crosstalk, and all kinds of other weird issues. I was looking through the planning and engineering guide and found the memory requirements for an Option 81c running Succession 3.0 with 68060E processors was 160MB. I looked in our swich and it only has 128MB. Could this be the reason for all of our problems? Any reason Nortel would not have looked at this?

Thanks.

Not sure if this is what's causing these issues but I would have your vendor upgrade your memory immediately. After the memory upgrade see if the problem still exists. I suspect your DRAM needs to go from 64 to 96M. Flash should be fine at 64.

I working on that now. Wouldn't that have been picked up when the upgrade was being done? Do you know what type of problems this would cause?

I've seen a situation after an upgrade... and it wasnt like you are experiencing. About 12 hours after the upgrade, the customer started to add phones. Once they reached a point where the memory became an issue.. the switch started to reload, and went into a constant reload cycle.

If not either memory or software related.. I would suspect a grounding/electrical problem.. that would be my next plan of action. GL

This has been an ongoing problem since call pilot upgrade. Nortel is telling me that it is software related. They are telling me that they have the design group involved now. They are coming out next week to get a first hand look. I would think it is more of a hardware issue, but no one wants to swap out any cards???????????????????????

160 MB is only if one are running 6 or more groups
128 MB for all others....
(table 24 Book 3 of 3, Large system upgrade, page 316)

do you have more than 5 network groups?????

128 is more that enough for under 5 groups.

Have less than 5 network groups.

I was looking in the Large System Planning and Engineering Book, page 368, table 102. It states 160MB for all 81c.

The last Suc3.0 upgrade I did was on a 2 group 81C and they (engineers who engineered the upgrade) tossed the memory upgrade in with the package - we found it in a box while cleaning up after the upgrade.
