Talking Daylight Saving Changes in 2007

Daylight Saving Changes in 2007

Starting in 2007, the Daylight Saving period will be extended by one month and will begin (for most of Canada and the United States) at 2 a.m. on the second Sunday in March and revert to standard time at 2 a.m. on the first Sunday in November. These new start and stop dates were set in the Energy Policy Act of 2005.

Nortel is fully aware of the extended Daylight Saving period commencing in 2007 and is working diligently to ensure a smooth transition to the new timing for all of its affected products. Some products will update automatically, some will require a simple upgrade, and others may require minor manual adjustments. Bulletins with instructions for updating each product impacted by the change will be posted in November 2006. Please visit http://nortel.com for status updates on the Daylight Saving initiative.

I saw a Nortel bulletin out on Friday (10/27) on the BCM and Norstar platform. Any idea when to expect the bulletin for CS1000 and Call Pilot?

Any update on when we might see this bulletin on the CS1000/M1 platform (including Call Pilot)?

Quick answer is that you probably won't.

Since the Daylight Savings period is manually defined in the CS1000, the fact that the dates are changing is not relevant. You simply need to go into LD 2 and enter the new DST dates.

What, no patches to put this into effect. Are we going to have to start manually inputting DST again

Not sure what you mean Gei. In the CS1000 you set the DST start and stop dates and time in LD 2. Then the DST changes automatically based on this schedule. The DST changes effective in 2007 are going to require you to go into LD 2 and change the existing schedule times, and that's it.

Once this is done, the system will follow the new DST schedule. Quick and easy, nothing to patch, nothing in the code to fix really.

Fletch,
Should we wait till 2007 before making these changes?

OK, so the M1/CS1000 is taken care of; how about the Call Pilot systems running a no-longer supported OS?
