XP laptop to use ProCom 4.8

I can't seem to get my baud rate, parity, and whatnot to read from the Procom. The modem settings of the laptop seem to be overriding them. Anyone using this set-up able to send me some help????

if you are connecting to an option 11 then set your procomm baud rate to match the dips on the SSC card
then i use 8 N 1 , x modem, direct to comm 1

you may well need a null modem adapter as well on the TTY

on a large switch baud should be 9600

My problem is with the laptop not the actual settings for a given system. My laptop modem settings are overriding the emulation settings configured in ProCom. So, I only get garbage when I connect.

I was hoping that someone could share with me what configs you have in your modem device manager or where ever would be appropriate to make this stuff work.

My old 98 laptop died and now the new XP laptop won't work with the same settings. Something is missing.

It may have something to do with your rights on the machine - with my office XP machine I have user rights and most things procomm either reset to default each time I run it or just don't work. With my laptop I have admin rights and all things procomm work fine.

Go to Start --> Control Panel --> User Accounts. All users are listed and it shows their rights under group.

Okay, well, other than my Domain name, I look to be just like the root and helpdesk accounts. So, I should be an administrator. Could it be something specific to the modem card in the laptop? It is a Conexant D110 MDC V.92 Modem. Does that ring any bells????

Send a message via AIM to ptec123
In the port settings for the place you are calling do you have your modem selected in the drop down box?

Yes, I do. The modem dials out, hand shakes with the PBX modem, then I get squat. Nothing but ***** and other odd characters come up. I am not able to receive clean data back. I ran the Troubleshooter on the laptop and it says that it can't help me.

Could I have a bad internal modem card? Could this be a hardware issue.

I can't use CrossTalk at all. When I try to dial out it gets an "Error Number 42-1. The port is already in use." So, Procom was my fallback. I get no errors but, I get no data either.

I had to get a External US Robotic modem for my Laptop.

Had to do with internal modem. The internal modem alway tried to connect at the highest possible speed even if I tried using S37 register to force connect at 9600 or what ever baud rate i needed to use.

Using the external modem on com port 1 on my laptop, it connects at the speed I have set in procom 4.8.
