Force Disconnect

We installed a new dictation system that runs through our PBX. If a doctor just hangs up instead of hitting the disconnect key and then hanging up the phone the system doesn't recognize the hang up for a few minutes.

Here is the answer from Nortel:
Regarding your inquiry- We have a customer with a CS1000M rls 3.0 that is looking for a feature for their dictation system - when a physician is finished dictating and hangs up, the line is disconnected from our dictation system. Our dictation system currently holds the line open until a preset time is reached, 1 hour.
Does Nortel have a line card that would provide a positive disconnect?

Response:
Based on the information provided the following feature Line Disconnect will provide the function you are looking for if the Dictaphone is internal to the system. Ground start trunks provide disconnect supervision. Please see the description below.

500/2500 Line Disconnect for Outgoing Calls When devices such as dictation machines are connected to an analog (500/
2500-type) line port, they rely on detecting a tone to indicate that the far end has released. This is necessary because the line conditions on an analog (500/ 2500-type) circuit do not change regardless of the status of the far end.

Currently, when a system detects an on-hook/disconnect supervision signal from a party on a trunk that provides disconnect supervision, and the trunk is connected to an analog (500/2500-type) port with the Line Disconnect Tone Allowed (LDTA) Class of Service, dial tone is sent for the time specified in the Customer Data Block. Thus, the device physically connected to the 500/ 2500 port disconnects itself and the line port as well. This functionality is used in applications requiring predictive dialing; however, previously it was limited to incoming calls.
The 500/2500 Line Disconnect for Outgoing Calls feature expands the 500/ 2500 Disconnect capability to encompass outgoing calls.

This did not work. He is my manager's response to them and the troubleshooting performed.

I set all my dictation ports to allow for this LDTA feature but when I hang up it still leaves the line open at the dication server. I connected a regular analog phone to the line because I was told by my dictation company that I should hear a disconnect tone when I hang up the remote end and that this would be an indicator that the phone switch end is working. If I heard it and it didn't hang up on the dictation server, they would have to make an adjustment on their end. I did not hear the disconnect tone.
I also changed the dialing method under the LDTA feature from Digiphone to manual but this did not make a difference.
Is there another adjustment that I need to make?

---

Does anyone else have a suggestion?

The only way to provide a true Line Disconnect on Analog Station ports would be to use the OPX line card. NT1R20BA 8 Port OPX Card.
