Question Desk phone question

Hello, I'm Conrad and I am new to Meridian phones. I have programmed several Avaya Partner II systems and have had experience with a Merlin Magix where I currently work. I also do work for a sister company and they use a Meridian 1 PBX. All that I know about it is that it fills an entire room and looks a lot like UNIX from a terminal stand point.

Anyways, on to my question, the president of the company would like to replace some of the desk phones in waves. As that they just remodeled a part of the building they would like new phones and I was given the task of locating phones that are compatible.

I would like phones that have a display for caller id, system time, and message status. I know that this system can have both digital phones, I think that the ones that I want to use are digital, and the analog phones, like fax machines and any POTS phone.

Any push in the right direction would help, and if you need more information I can get it for you.

Thanks,

Conrad

Google Meridian 2008. They have models with display and also hands free features. The last time I purchased some I got them from an outfit called Paragon Communications and they cost about $120 each.

Those phones are for Meridian Norstar and BCM's not for the meridian option 11-81 switches. If your software release is above 25.4 look for M3903 and m3904 phones

How would I check the software release?

Sorry for the really basic questions. I am skimming the Crash Programming Guide as I write this.

Meridian 1 (and CS 1000) systems support analog phones (buy any you want but will need extra hardware to send Calling Name to the display), digital phones (current generation is M3900-series - http://products.nortel.com/go/produc...8&locale=en-US) and IP Phones (http://products.nortel.com/go/produc...9&locale=en-US).

do you know the password? If not you will need that

to get release login and put in ld 22
at the req: type iss and enter

also to get caller ID you will need certain options that you may or may not have such as PRI and ISDN options if you don't already have caller ID
hope this helps

I guess that I have one more quick question. What does Nortellian mean by Meridian Option 11-81 Switches. All that I really know about it is that the grey cabinets say Meridian 1 on them and that there are two terminal on it, Meridian Mail and the console where you do your system programming from. I am guessing that the whole unit is an 11-81. Is that right?

option 11 is a wall mounted system 1 to 5 cabinets

option 61/81 are floor standing column from 1 column to as many as 40 or 50 I suppose.
The programming is almost all the same with a few exception

you program from a tty port some system have dumb terminals already installed or you can use a terminal program such as procomm plus.

Re:

Perform the issue command and if your switch is 25.4 or better then go with the 3900 series models. They are a lot easier (well should say quicker) to install than the 2000 series models.
