OK...
I have a Mini van w/ ac. The compressor was changed 363 days ago...The warranty is for 1 year. It will not blow out cold air. They ( the dealership ) put this die stuff in to find a leak and so far no luck...Question:

1.Is the die stuff freon with a color?
2. If nothing is wrong whay is this the second time they had to install the die freon in one year?
3. I wish i knew cars as well as PBX's

The dye is carried thru system by freon and oil in a/c system. usually only effective over long term unless leak is significant. Quick way to check is w/clean white wiper/towel along and around a/c hoses and fittings to see if red stain shows up. One hard to find leak source is in the evaporator as this is completely enclosed. The way I usually check the evaporator is with a freon leak detector put in evaporator housing thru evap housing drain tube. On occassion I have seen reddish coloration in water coming from evap drain. However, sys must have enough freon to cool to produce drainage from evap. Good luck A/C season is coming!!
